Mental Spring Cleaning in 10 Tips

Spring cleaning... we all know about it, some of us might even practice it yearly. We work hard to organize our closets, donate items that we no longer need and re-organize our lives. Some people even go as far to do full body cleanses, but how many of us actually clean out our minds? How many of us learn to move on and move forward from those things which hold us back? In this blog article share from thewellnessuniverse.com, the author talks about 10 tips for helping to clean through the problems of our minds.

"We do this for our houses and even for our bodies, but how often do we do it for our minds? In the same way you might cleanse your body of physical toxins and waste, you can also cleanse your mind of mental toxins like bitterness and unforgiveness. If left to fester, these poisons can eventually destroy their containers, like acids of the mind. To replenish our energy and regain our balance, we have to stop feeding off of mental “anti-nutrients” like perfectionism and the need to always be right."

Neuroscience and the True Purpose of Yoga

We all know that yoga has been proven time and time again that it is beneficial for our bodies and spiritual health. But how many avid yogis know the true science behind the improvement? Or why certain poses can be so helpful? In this article share today from upliftconnect.com, it talks about one yogis journey into discovering the science behind the poses.

"Like going back to the beginning of the television series I’d started watching in the middle, I suddenly saw new depth and had a more complete understanding of everything I’d already seen so far. For example, it suddenly occurred to me that this opening of spinal flexibility and increase in strength helps one to sit for extended periods of time with the spine in a state of alignment, for connection to higher awareness in meditation."

Reiki goes mainstream: Spiritual touch practice now commonplace in hospitals

Good morning,

As part of our integrative and holistic healing process at Inner Passages we also offer Reiki. Today we are sharing an article from The Washington Post "A spiritual touch practice based on the notion that human hands can redirect one’s “life force energy” to heal stress and disease, Reiki is the hottest new Eastern healing practice making its way into the Western health industry."

And now, some hospitals and doctors offices are also offering the practice! "More than 60 U.S. hospitals have adopted Reiki as part of patient services, according to a UCLA study, and Reiki education is offered at 800 hospitals." We are SO excited to hear that more people are opening up to this incredible form of touch healing even though some still find it conflicting.

Yoga Therapy: The Medicine Needed for Cancer Recovery

Hi everyone!

Today's article share is a special one. As you know we are big into yoga and other aspects of integrative medicine. Today's article is an interview from The Huffington Post about yoga therapy and how one teacher has experienced the tremendous benefits it can bring to people recovering from cancer.

"Our bodies were made to move.” Cancer patients as well as many yoga teachers are fearful that yoga is dangerous to an individual who has cancer. Sitting on the couch or lying in bed just waiting for the next doctor’s appointment, chemotherapy, or radiation treatment is hurtful to the body, mind and spirit. Specialized Yoga and Meditation for Cancer Recovery classes help an individual become physically, emotionally and spiritually strong. Participants are empowered to take on whatever comes their way.

My students have told me that when their bodies are stronger they make better decisions because they trust themselves more. They are more involved in their treatment plans and recovery, and thus heal faster. When our bodies are strong, our emotions, minds, and spirits are stronger and more engaged in the healing process. This where the true power of healing lies."
